Vice President, Business Development at the World Trade Center Utah
Currently Vice-President for Business Development at the World Trade Center Utah, (WTCU) a non-profit organization focused on assisting Utah companies into the profitable global marketplace. Her expertise is in linking people, programs and opportunities in both academic and corporate settings. This experience is well utilized in the World Trade Center activities involving assessment, connection and education of the international community in Utah and the world.
Sheila has over 40 years of experience in both job development and career management with a diverse clientele including mid-career executives, MBA candidates, high school and college age students and the disabled population. In addition to the position at the WTCU, Sheila is the owner of The Catalyst Group, LLC, a private career counseling practice, a trustee on the board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and an active member of the Salt Lake Chamber UBET committee focused on identifying disability-friendly businesses.
Previous positions at the University of Utah include, Director of MBA Career Management at the David Eccles School of Business, Director of Independent Study, Associate Director, DCE Center for Adult Transitions and Program Coordinator in Academic Advising. Prior to moving to Utah, Sheila was involved in both career counseling and vocational rehabilitation counseling at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada and the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.
When not working, Sheila spends her time hiking and biking and whenever possible, sea kayaking and scuba diving. She likes the high places (like Mt. Kilimanjaro and the base camp of Everest) and the low places (like the ocean floor off the islands of Roatan and Bonaire). International travel is high on her list of “favorite things to do” and while many places have been seen – there are still many to go.
